Mr. K.C Li, Economist, is currently Chairman of AfrexInsure and sits on the Boards of various international financial institutions as an Independent Director. He is holder of a B.Sc. (Econ) from the London School of Economics and an LLM in International Tax Law. He started his professional career in 1974 as a Lecturer in Public Finance at the University of Mauritius. Afterwards, he held prominent positions in the Mauritius public sector, including Advisor to the Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Stock Exchange Commission.
He launched the first Unit Trust and the first Property Fund in Mauritius in 1989. K.C. LI was a Board member of the State Trading Corporation, the National Remuneration Board and the National Economic and Social Council. He also sat on the Council of the University of Mauritius and the Financial Services Consultative Council. K.C. LI was an external lecturer for the University of Surrey School of Management (UK) and has published numerous reports and articles on cooperative banking, project management, development finance, structural adjustment, and fiscal planning issues.
In 1992, Mr. Li started his private consulting firm and served as a Consultant to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the U.N. Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). In 1993, he founded the Mauritius International Trust Co. Ltd (MITCO), one of the first professional firms licensed to provide international tax and investment advisory services in Mauritius. He was also a Member of the Parliament of Mauritius (2010-2014) and sat on the Public Accounts Committee.
In 2015, Mr K.C Li was awarded the national honour of ‘Grand Officer of the Star and Key’ (GOSK) of the Indian Ocean by the Republic of Mauritius for distinguished services in the economic, social, and political fields. In May 2018, he was granted the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award by the Banker Africa for his outstanding contribution to the financial sector in Mauritius and Africa. He sits on the Board of Directors of several Emerging Markets Funds and Asia Hedge Funds, including Private Equity, Infrastructure and Real Estate Funds in Africa & Asia. He is currently a Board Director of Afreximbank (based in Cairo).

He has 26 years of banking experience that started immediately after graduation in 1985, during which he worked in four banks, namely: Bank of Credit & Commerce from 1985 until 1991; Bank of America from 1991 until 1994; Chemical Bank (currently J.P. Morgan Chase) from 1994 until 1995 where he was Chief Dealer. Mr Kamel joined the African Export-Import Bank in 1995. His experience spans many banking functions ranging from structured trade finance, documentary credits, operations, loan administration and agency, treasury, marketing, and business development. He joined the Bank as a Senior Operations Associate. He rose through the ranks to the position of Director, Banking Operations in January 2011 and was promoted to Executive Vice President – Business Development & Corporate Banking in 2016.

Kesaven is a seasoned finance professional with nearly two decades of experience in the Mauritius financial services industry. Mr. Kesaven is currently an executive director of Intercontinental Trust Ltd focusing on client relationship management, strategy formulation and implementation and overseeing global business operations.
He was one of the founding executive directors of Perigeum Capital Ltd, the First licensed corporate finance advisory firm in Mauritius until December 2023. Prior to that, He was a Senior Manager heading the Fund and Capital Market advisory division of Intercontinental Trust Ltd. He has worked in fund structuring and administration, investment evaluation and financial structuring, strategic transaction advisory, business valuation, deal origination, negotiation, and execution, equity/debt capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and securities exchange listing.
He graduated from the University of Mauritius with a BSc (Hons) in Accounting with Information System and has an MBA with a focus on Leadership and Innovation from the Ducere Business School, Australia. He followed it with an inspiring leadership programme from the Manchester Business School, UK. He is also a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK (FCCA), a member of the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA) and Member of the Mauritius Institute of Directors. Lakshmana (Kris) holds a Banking Diploma from Finafrica Institute. He worked for the State Bank of Mauritius between 1973 and 1986, which he left as Assistant General Manager. He set up the Mauritius Leasing Company as General Manager before being later appointed as Managing Director in 1997. He was President of the Financial Services arm of the British American Group from 1999 to 2002.
Kris was Executive Chairman of The Mauritius Post Ltd in 2002 and also served as CEO of the Mauritius Post and Cooperative Bank Ltd from 2003 to 2005. Kris took various leadership roles in the insurance and non-banking financial services sectors such as:
- Group CEO of Mauritius Union Assurance Mauritius (2011 – 2014),

Before joining AfrexInsure, he worked as a Head of Business Development in a Reinsurance Company in Southern Africa, Headed Operations at WFDR Risk Services (formerly Alexander Forbes), and was a Regional Manager at Marsh Zambia Limited. Alson also worked as a Portfolio Manager at Alexander Forbes and as an Account Advisor at Aon Zimbabwe, among other roles. He is a Past President of the Insurance Institute of Harare and a former board member of the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe. Alson is currently a Business Development Manager at AfrexInsure. Alson holds an Executive MBA (AU), an MSc in Business Strategy (CUT), a Bachelor of Commerce honours degree in Risk Management & Insurance (NUST), and an Advanced Certificate in Short Term Insurance (Milpark Business School). He is also a Wits Business School (EDP) graduate where he led the Best Syndicate and was awarded Best Student prize. Nana has spent a greater portion of his career working on global programs with global giants such as Marsh, AON, Lockton and Gallagher. Nana holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the Swiss Business School. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Ghana, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Insurance Studies and is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, United Kingdom. Nana, prior to joining AfrexInsure was the Executive Director of Ascoma Ghana (a subsidiary of Chedid Capital) and doubled as the deputy to the Hub CEO providing technical advise to him in the management of Ascoma Togo and Ascoma Benin.

In terms of work experience, Christine has held various positions in different industries; she worked as a Customer Experience Officer at AXA One Health and as a Customer Care Coordinator at the same company. Prior to joining AXA One Health, she served as an Event Coordinator at Ecole Oasis Internationale and as a Tour Operator & Tour Leader at Voyageurs Du Monde. Clemence is an experienced insurance practitioner and has passion for customer experience and relationship management having worked in the insurance industry for more than sixteen (16) years covering Business Development, Sales and Marketing, Underwriting, Claims, Risk Management, Reinsurance, and Credit Control. Before joining AfrexInsure, he worked as Sales and Marketing Manager for a short-term general insurance company in Southern Africa, Headed branch operations for a short-term insurance company in Southern Africa. Clemence is currently a Business Development Manager at AfrexInsure.
Clemence holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Advance Diploma in Strategic Management from University of Gloucestershire United Kingdom, Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute United Kingdom (ACII), BSc Honours in Applied Mathematics from NUST Zimbabwe, Certificate in Micro-Insurance from Turin (Italy), a certificate in Public Speaking (ZIM).
